If this is your first visit to Disability Benefits 101, here are a few pointers.

The Life Situations section is where you will find case studies of people using benefit planning techniques and services involving work and living with a disability.

Benefits Planning Calculator sessions can help introduce you to the world of benefits planning for your life situation and needs. You can save your session and re-open it later as you review the rest of DB101 or seek other services.

If you are looking for specific information on a benefit program or a piece of legislation, look for your topic under Income Support, Health Coverage, Your Rights, or On the Job. Most DB101 content sections have a similar structure that you'll soon find familiar:

  • A cover sheet that summarizes the topic in a nutshell
  • A program description or fact sheet with program Basics followed by program Details
  • An Example detailing someone’s experience with the program
  • A list of frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • A discussion of frequent pitfalls about that topic and
  • A directory of resources for more information and services.

Each topic also has a related glossary section. Glossary terms are found as links in the text; or you can go directly to the Glossary page to find the word you are looking for.
