Disability Benefits101: Working with a disability in California
Medicare Part D: Low Income Subsidy Groups
<< Back to Part D | On to Resources >>

I am not on Medi-Cal and I am enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program.

How to Enroll: You will automatically receive the subsidy, unless you are on the Qualified Disabled Working Individual (QDWI) Program. If you are in that program, you will have to apply for the subsidy with Social Security or at your county Medi-Cal officeOffsite Link.

The Subsidy:

  • You will not have to pay any monthly fees premiums to be enrolled in a benchmark plan.
  • You will not have to pay a deductible before you get help paying for drugs.
  • There will not be any gap where Medicare will not help you pay for drugs.
  • You will have to pay $2.15 for every generic drug prescription and $5.35 for every brand-name prescription you purchase.
