There is help available for people who can not afford the costs of a Prescription Drug Plan. This help is called a Low Income Subsidy, and it is available to people who are on Medi-Cal and/or have incomes of less than $14,700 a year. There are three types of subsidies. Each covers different groups of people and each offers a different amount of help paying the costs of a Prescription Drug Plan. The State of California is required to help identify those on Medicare and Medi-Cal and also to help people apply for a low income subsidy.
